Accessible buses come in many different shapes
and sizes - but in general, they are smaller than
full-size city buses. Essentially, truck frames
are shipped from the big manufacturers (like Ford,
GM, Chrysler, Volvo, and others) to bus builders
(like Blue Bird, Orion, and others), who then
build the passenger compartments and finish the
interiors. Specialty shops also build the hydraulic
or electric-powered ramp systems on the side or
in the rear of accessible buses. Most accessible
buses are air conditioned for the comfort of their
passengers... but that's something you'll enjoy,
too!
